Three day Angkor Wat Temple Pass for two
Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. Stretching over some 400 km2, including forested area, Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. They include the famous Temple of Angkor Wat and, at Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple with its countless sculptural decorations. UNESCO has set up a wide-ranging programme to safeguard this symbolic site and its surroundings.

The world’s largest religious structure, Angkor Wat was built over the course of 37 years. Placed on the UNESCO endangered site list in 1992. A must see. One of the 1000 places to visit before you die.

‘This is the place where food and beverage managers from nearby five star hotels come to feast. Co-owner Kethana serves old-fashioned, flavorful, and hearty Khmer food. The Siem Reap restaurant is on the second floor of a spacious house (partner Bruce and Kethana live in a beautiful apartment on the first floor). The restaurant has a warm and inviting ambiance with subdued, covered lighting, a wall painted in sunny yellow, and vaulted ceilings. The furniture and bar are done in dark sugar palm wood. Staff walks around barefoot on spotless wooden floors. Most of the seating is on the wraparound balcony, partially covered from the outside world with roll-down bamboo blinds. On the menu, the pomelo salad is excellent. Fleshy pomelo tendrils are played off the sharp taste of dried shrimp and crunchy chopped peanuts. Strips of spicy red pepper give it an extra kick. For mains I recommend the chicken stir-fried with ginger. The meat is tender and the sauce is loaded with tender slices of sautéed ginger. It’s lip-smacking good.’ (Source: Frommers)

Kenro Izu’s highly textured and detailed photographs, hewn and carved stone buildings are uncharacteristically portrayed as delicate and vulnerable, while the invasive roots of native trees and the unrelenting sun are shown to be the true masters of the land.

In 1996 he decided to establish a children’s free hospital to care for the constant flow of victims of land mines which lie unseen in the empty fields where local children play. The hospital opened its doors in 1999. Proceeds from the sale of these photographs go toward the on-going operations of the Angkor Hospital for Children.
